Elizabeth Cardosa
Member of the Industry Advisory Panel, Cultural Economy Development Agency (CENDANA)
Elizabeth Cardosa is well-known as a cultural heritage commentator and advocate, raising heritage awareness in both print and broadcast media channels. She has dedicated her work to balancing cultural heritage conservation with social, cultural, environmental and economic imperatives.
Elizabeth actively engages in research and documentation of both tangible and intangible heritage and has also worked on several acclaimed restoration projects such as Stadium Merdeka in KL (Award of Excellence, 2010 UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation), and the Masjid Diraja Sultan Sulaiman in Klang (PAM Gold Award for Conservation (2019)).
Her initial training was in theatre and she initiated the first children’s theatre and creative dramatics programme in 1977 under (then-known as) the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. She has continued her involvement in culture and arts with British Council Malaysia where she was Cultural Affairs Manager; and since 2018 has been a member of the Industry Advisory Panel of CENDANA.
